Holy Hot Toddy

Not sure who Toddy was, or if he really was all THAT, but I know it’s winter.

And grey. And cold. And we are still (mostly) locked up at home, so couldn’t we all use a yummy, fun, warm-up-yer-bones cocktail?

We’re not driving! Cause there’s nowhere to go! Let’s make our own little party!

Here’s a few adult drinks I’ve found that should get the chill right out and put the buzz right in!

Hot Toddy’s are amazing, and this one adds Werther’s Caramel. Literally.

Creamy, warm, sweet Hot Toddy…

Here’s what you need:

10 Werther's Originals Candies, crushed

1/2 c. caramel

2 c. water

10 Werther's Originals Candies, whole

2 cinnamon sticks, plus more for garnish

1/3 c. lemon juice

6 oz. whiskey or bourbon

Lemon slices, for garnish

Directions:

Place crushed Werther's on a shallow plate, and caramel on a separate shallow plate. Dip rims first in caramel, and then in crushed Werther's.

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, whole Werther's, and cinnamon sticks. Stir constantly until candies are fully melted. Turn off heat and stir in lemon juice and whiskey.

Ladle into mugs and serve.

(For a traditional Hot Toddy, just skip all the caramel. Whiskey, a little boiling water, honey and lemon...mmm…)

Does hot cider evoke memories of snow days and sledding?

Try the grown-up version—Gingerbread Hot Apple Cider and fall in love all over again!

For two servings, you’ll need:

4 fl oz Captain Morgan(or another brand if you find it) Gingerbread Spiced Rum

12 fl oz fresh apple cider

Cinnamon sticks and apple slices to garnish!

Directions:

Just combine the rum and cider in a small saucepan and heat it up!

Pour in a mug, garnish those puppies, then climb under a cozy blanket and watch a fire or Netflix binge.

Perfect evening? Check!

Or how about a Rumchata Hot Cocoa??

It’s. A. Thing.

And it’s amazing.

And only takes a few minutes to put together!

Here’s what you need:

2 1/2 c. whole milk

1/4 c. granulated sugar

2 tbsp. cocoa powder

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

6 oz. chocolate chips (or chopped bittersweet chocolate)

1/2 c. Rumchata

1/3 c. warm caramel

Whipped cream, for serving

Cinnamon sugar, for garnish

Cinnamon stick, for garnish

Directions:

Just bring milk to a simmer in small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in sugar and cocoa powder and stir until no lumps remain. Stir in chocolate chips and vanilla and cook, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate is completely melted. Stir in Rumchata, then turn off heat.

Pour caramel into a small dish. Dip cups in the caramel to coat the rim. Pour hot chocolate into each glass, then top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar, more caramel, and a cinnamon stick.

Get. In. My belly!

I can’t make June come faster, or bring everyone together just yet, but hoping these recipes put some warmth in your belly and a smile on your face!

Enjoy!!
