Even Superman Loves a Cape

Maybe it’s the sturdy, simplicity. Or the steep, shingled roof. 
But when I mention to homebuyers that a house just came on the market, adding “...and it’s a Cape Cod...” I’m probably getting a tiny squeal of anticipation. 


Something about this Puritan-era style home evokes the charming epitome of a family home. Add the white picket fence and that puppy is going to sell faster than you can say “Nantucket.”

They were designed with a steep, shingled roof to handle the coastal weather, but the look just screams, 
“COZY!! Come in and bake some flippin’ cookies, already!”


Practically, they’re also the bomb. The larger first floor, commonly with a center fireplace, makes it efficient to heat.

They easily lend themselves to a circular floor plan that can be open-concept…

or smaller, more cozy rooms…


The second level can be attic space, or a second floor with a couple bedrooms and those ridiculously charming dormer windows.


Which provide nooks. Nooks!! 

Only a monster wouldn’t love a charming little nook.


So “thank you!” to the pilgrims who gave us these timeless, classic homes. We like your style!


But not the top hats and knickers. You can totally keep those.
