These are in no particular order. Why? Because if you have been to more than one of these amazing Northeast Ohio bakeries, you’d know that they are all to-die-for. And honestly, I can’t choose a winner, so they are all winners in my (cook) book.
1. Sweet Mary’s Bakery
Downtown Akrons premiere micro-bakery…think, made in small batches. They start their mornings early to make us the freshest pie, cookies, birthday cakes, and pastries. Everything they make is of the highest quality using time honored techniques. Their belief in small business is apparent, when it comes to the ingredients and products they sell in the shop, you can bet most of it comes from other local businesses.

2. West Side Bakery
Voted Best Local Bakery, Akron Life Magazine twelve years running. You can best believe everything they make is delightful. 3. Blackbird Baking Company
You want to feel like you’ve been transported to some quaint bakery in Europe somewhere? Thats what you’ll be imagining when you bite into one of their pecan sticky buns. You can even pick up one of the French baguettes to take home…to keep that feeling going. Everything, here, is made from scratch and all products are baked the same day you buy them. Of course, everything is made from the highest quality, including butter from Europe and local eggs from Amish country.

4. Farkas Pastry Shoppe
In business for over 50 years, this spot is known all over Cleveland for the best pastry and bakery items. Their specialties include Napoleans, tortes, dobos, linzers, and a bunch more delicious Hungarian desserts. 5. Kelsey Elizabeth Cakes
Woah, woah, and woah is what you will be saying after a visit here. This place is exactly what you would expect and want to see in a cake shop. From the sweets boutique (pick up something fun) to the counter of hand crafted sweets menu, you’ll feel like you jumped into a pink bowl of sugar, and will not want to get out any time soon. With an extensive resume and huge instagram following, you know this place is number one. Do yourself a favor and get a macaron…you can thank me later.

6. Theresa’s Bakery
Family owned and operated business that joined the West Side Market in 2000. They are known for their fresh, homemade breads and European pastries. You will find more than 30 kinds of bread ranging from pepperoni to rosemary garlic to sourdough and everything in between. Their flavored cannolis have proved to be one of their top sellers as they offer 17 delicious flavors.
