A few weeks back my transaction coordinator, Jane, was having a belated birthday gathering with a few friends at a bar I'd been wanting to visit in Akron.
It was one of those rainy, gloomy Friday nights where you're debating leaving the house because the weather is practically demanding you do something cozy, but fortieth birthdays demand a little celebration, so off I went, photographer in tow. Well, Zach was in the passenger seat, actually, lol.
The Circle of 5ths is located in downtown Akron at 45 E. Market Street, just above Blu Jazz.
Walking up, the lighting is soft and welcoming, and the vibe inside is about as cozy as you can get for a night like this. There are already some familiar faces at the bar and I'm excited to try these cocktails.
You guys. These drinks are good.
So. Freaking. Good.
These are not just cocktails that you'll find at any old dive. They are thoughtfully curated and crafted by mixologists Jessica Green and Tommy Wines and every single one is unique and equally impressive.
Our group loved the Steel Magnolia, Herald of Spring and the Maize Morada but this is an offering where you can't go wrong.
The food menu is compliments of chef Adam Heidt and matches the level of these drinks to perfection.
Need a snack to much on?
I was obsessed with their perfectly seasoned bar mix.
Feeling like you want a little more of a meal?
There is a gorgeous chicken sandwich and a smash burger that had us drooling.
And you know you want fries with that.
Adam's fries are cooked not once, not twice, but thrice and the effort and attention to detail shows. Order them with a side of ranch and thank me later.
Or thank my transaction coordinator, Jane, lol.
This is, after all, one of her favorite places and the reason I was here. I have to give credit where credit is due. She'd gathered an intimate and incredibly fun group to celebrate her birthday, and I loved getting to be a part of that.
After three and a half years of having her on my team, she's not just an essential part of my business, but a great friend as well.
Celebrating her is pretty easy to do, and much deserved.
Her group included local artists and business owners, personal trainers and yoga instructors, community activists and just really impressive and talented people and I loved getting to be a part of it. It was one of those nights where everyone got along incredibly well, conversation and laughs flowed easily, and we all left feeling better than when we came.
You don't have to be celebrating anything fancy to enjoy The Circle of 5ths yourself.
